Statement of “Sense of Place”
我々の記憶は、記録映像と違い、連続性の中に主観が混じり合っている。その正確性を欠いたシーンは時に美しく、時に残酷である。
“Sense of Place”とは「場所の感覚」を意味する。地理学者Y・トゥアン曰く「最初はまだ不分明な空間でも、それを知って価値を与えていくことで次第に場所になっていく」。個々のアイデンティティから、ただの場所が特別な場所になっていく。
記憶と場所というものは相互作用がある。ゆえに場所とは個々の感覚において断片化されているではないだろうか。
Our memories, unlike recorded images, are a mixture of subjectivity in continuity.
The scenes, with their lack of precision, are sometimes beautiful and sometimes cruel.
According to geographer Yi-fu Tuan, “A space that is still unclear at first will gradually become a place by knowing it and adding value to it.” From individual identities, ordinary places become special places.
Memories and places interact. Therefore, isn’t the place fragmented in individual senses?
